Benchwarden ("the app") is a personal lab and 3D-print inventory tool. It is built local-first: your inventory lives on your device and the app works fully offline. This policy explains the limited data the app handles, and the two optional features that can send data off your device (diagnostics, and an optional AI co-pilot you connect with your own key). Please read those two sections, because they are where data leaves the device.
Everything you record (drawers, components, quantities, locations, notes, filament spools, and projects) is stored locally on your device. The app does not require an account and does not need the internet for its core features: adding, searching, and exporting your inventory all work offline. You can export your entire catalog to CSV or JSON at any time from inside the app.
If you are signed in to iCloud, your inventory is mirrored through CloudKit's private database, which is your own iCloud account. We cannot see or access it; it lives in your iCloud, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Sync is a convenience mirror so your iPhone and iPad agree. It is never required to open or use the app.
This is the one place the app sends data to a service we configure. Benchwarden uses Sentry to collect crash reports, errors, performance traces, and diagnostic logs so we can find and fix bugs. This runs on all versions of the app.
To make bug reports useful, this diagnostic data is not stripped of your content: inventory text you entered (such as drawer labels, specs, locations, and notes), along with app screenshots and interface state at the time of an error, may be included in a report. This diagnostic data is sent to Sentry and used only to diagnose and fix problems. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to track you across apps or websites. Diagnostic events are buffered on your device when offline and sent later.
The co-pilot ("what can I build") runs on your device by default, using Apple Intelligence, with nothing sent off the device. Optionally, you can enter your own API key for a third-party AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) in the app's settings to use a cloud model instead. If, and only if, you do that:

You can use photos to help set up drawers (for example, reading part markings or building a drawer grid from a photo of your wall). Photos are chosen through the system photo picker and processed on your device using Apple's Vision framework. The app does not upload your photo library. (Note that an interface screenshot could be captured as part of a diagnostic report if an error occurs while a photo is on screen, as described in the Diagnostics section.)
Benchwarden contains no advertising and no third-party tracking SDKs. It does not track you as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, and it does not sell or share your personal data.
Your inventory lives on your device. Deleting the app removes the local copy. If you use iCloud sync, you can remove the iCloud copy in iOS Settings, [your name], iCloud. Diagnostic reports already sent to Sentry can be removed on request (see Contact).
The app is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
